Though the convention officially opened on Friday, the hours were only from 5-9 pm, and so Friday was considered more a “preview night” than anything else. And it was true. We had a lot of traffic at our table, but on Friday sales were small, which was fine. I’m the same way at conventions (or any store, for that matter). Like most people, I like to browse before I buy.
Saturday, October 31, was a full day and it was when we saw the most action at the con and at our table. We also took a load of pictures, half of which I’ll be posting today, the other half tomorrow. And since Saturday had been Halloween, most of the children at the con were dressed up. The con also had a “safe Halloween” thing going on where tables could put up a Safe Halloween sign, notifying the parents and children they had candy at the ready for the kids’ goodie bags. We didn’t find out about the sign till later in the day, but we gave away candy when we could, both on Saturday and Sunday.
Anyway, without further ado, here’s Saturday as she went down–the first half.
- Me and Harely Quinn (who doesn’t love Harley?)
- This guy’s costume rocked. He had no face! His name was The Question.
- Adam West? No. But most definitely the Batman.
- My wife and Captain America, Lady Liberty (?), and Wolverine
- Me and Ash
- They said my invisible raygun didn’t qualify, but I love bounty huntin’ nonetheless
- Harley, me and the Scarecrow
- Rogue (I think), Rorschach and a zombie lady
- The girl on the right was a pepper shaker. It was cute. Her boyfriend dressed the same, but wore white, and was salt. She had a “P” on her chest, he had an “S.” Good idea for a couple costume.
- Janet Heatherington, Vicious Verses and Reanimated Rhymes contributor, standing with me as we hold the book.
- Me, Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes. These kids were all smiles when I asked for a photo.
- Me and Silk Spectre II
- The Coscom Entertainment table. There’s me, wearing the Coscom shirt we had done up for the con. My wife was wearing a white and navy blue one. On the front was the “Bits of the Dead” cover zombie. On the back was the company logo, name and website.
- Me and the table again
- Black Spider-man, me and Batman
